The field splits in two: "Historical value of X",                     displayable as report value, shows the last value for every                     displayed time period. You can enter the value valid from                     the start of the period. The original field "X" shows the                     value valid for today (i.e. today's or the one closest in                     the past). You can enter the value valid from today. Every                     value set is valid to the day it will be changed (or forever                     when no subsequent change will be made). When entering data                     the check is performed and if you enter the data equal to                     closest data in neighbourhood, the later one is deleted as                     extraneous.
